
Shorebirds Shut Out By Red Sox

SALEM, VA: The Delmarva Shorebirds (27-35) dropped their third straight game to the Salem Red Sox (29-32) by a score of 5-0 on Saturday night.
The Red Sox grabbed the early lead in the second with a two-run double by Albert Feliz to make it 2-0 Salem. They'd add on another run after an error to put Delmarva behind 3-0.
Salem put an additional run on the board in the third with an RBI single by Allan Castro to give the Red Sox a 4-0 edge.
The offense for Delmarva was unable to get anything going against Salem starting pitcher Luis Perales as the No. 12 prospect for Boston dealt his first quality start of the season, throwing six innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts.
The Red Sox manufactured an add-on run in the bottom of the eighth with a run-scoring single by Juan Montero to up the lead to 5-0 for Salem.
Nathanael Cruz and Reidis Sena would combine to get the final nine outs for the Red Sox as they went on the complete a 5-0 shutout of the Shorebirds.
Luis Perales (2-4) was the winning pitcher for Salem with Delmarva starter Juan Nuñez (0-4) taking the loss.
The Shorebirds will look to finish their seven-game series against the Red Sox on Father's Day with a victory as Moises Chace draws the start against Jedixon Paez for Salem. The opening pitch for the finale is scheduled for 3:05 p.m.
