As the Delmarva Shorebirds 2008 season comes to a close on Monday, September 1st @ 6:05pm, fans can already begin planning for an exciting 2009 as the South Atlantic League has officially released the 2009 League Schedule. The '09 schedule features 11 home stands which will bring 9 different South Atlantic League teams to Perdue Stadium. The âBirds will open up on the road in Lakewood, New Jersey against the BlueClaws on Thursday, April 9th, with their home opener set for a week later on Thursday, April 16th when the Lake County Captains come to town. Currently the âBirds sit at 32-24, just 6.0 games behind the West Virginia Power in the South Atlantic League Northern Division Standings as they head to Hagerstown for a 5 game series against the Suns. The team will return home on Thursday, August 28th for a 7:05pm game to kick off the final home stand of the season.
