Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

Hagerstown, MD- Behind Sean Gleason's masterful seven innings and Cliff Flagello's two perfect frames, the Shorebirds used a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning to score the game's only run and earn their sixth straight victory. The 1-0 triumph gave Gleason his 11th win of the season as he out-dueled Hagerstown starter Tom Milone. Milone shut out the Shorebirds for the first six innings before giving way to the bullpen. Delmarva took advantage of reliever Ryan Buchter's three walks in the seventh, as his 3-2 pitch with the bags full sailed high to Ryan Adams, forcing in Crancer from third and paving way for the win.

The game featured 10 singles, zero extra base hits, and both starters pitching out of jams to keep the game scoreless in the early innings. Gleason finished with a season high nine strikeouts, escaping two-on, one-out predicaments with multiple K's in both the second and the seventh. Offensively, the Shorebirds left 10 runners aboard, seven of which were stranded in scoring position. In the end, despite the inability to finagle a clutch hit, Delmarva only needed the one run it received as a gift in the seventh. Paco Figueroa was the only Shorebird to record multiple hits, while Sean Rooney registered two of the four base knocks for the Suns. In addition, Matt Angle's 10-game hitting streak came to an end as Angle finished 0-4 with a walk.

The six-game winning streak matches their season long streak that they obtained from May 28 to June 8. Now 16 games above .500 for the first time this season, the Birds look to continue the momentum on Thursday evening, a 7:05 first pitch at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown.
