Hagerstown Suns News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds (33-24) edged out the Hagerstown Suns (21-37), 1-0 on Wednesday night. The lone run of the game came in the top of the seventh inning as Ryan Adams drew a walk with the bases loaded to force in the winning run.

Both starting pitchers were phenomenal as Delmarva's Sean Gleason (11-1) worked seven innings and only gave up four hits to take the win. Hagerstown's Tom Milone threw six innings of shutout baseball and did not fare in the decision. Reliever Ryan Buchter (1-2) worked the seventh inning, and his control was his demise. The lefty gave up three walks, including the one to Adams with the bases loaded.

Delmarva's Cliff Flagello pitched two innings of perfect baseball to pick up his third save of the year.

The Suns threatened in the second inning with runners at second and third with just one out, but Gleason struck out Garrett Bass and Bryan Miller to end the inning. It was the only time Hagerstown got a runner past second base.

All four of the Suns hits were singles. Two of them came off the bat of catcher Sean Rooney.

The Shorebirds and Suns return to action tomorrow night at 7:05 from Municipal Stadium.
