Jackets Five Game Win Streak Snapped

Kannapolis, NC - The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 39-19) had their five game win streak snapped by the Kannapolis Intimidators (31-39, 30-26) with a 3-1 loss on Tuesday. Starter Oliver Odle recorded the loss and the GreenJackets lost for just the second time in the past 10 games.

Kannapolis snapped a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning on a two-out RBI single from Mark Fleisher.

The Intimidators added an insurance run in the seventh inning off reliever Trey Webb on a two-out RBI single from Jordan Danks for a 3-1 lead.

Odle (9-7) allowed two runs on five hits over six innings worked. Odle did not walk a batter and struck out five.

Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Shane Jordan scored from third on a wild pitch. Jordan began the game with a base hit then moved up to third when Nick Noonan followed with a base hit.

Kannapolis tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single from Jim Gallagher.

The GreenJackets and Intimidators continue their series Thursday night with Augusta sending left-hander Madison Bumgarner (13-3, 1.52) to the mound. Kannapolis counters with right-hander Jason Rice (8-7, 4.56). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

The GreenJackets fell to 35-25 on the road this season, 14-12 in the second half

The GreenJackets have a 4.5 game lead in the Southern Division.

Augusta had its string of consecutive games of 10 hits or more snapped at four.

Thomas Neal had his eight game hit streak snapped and his 27 road game streak of reaching base safely with a hit or walk.

Augusta batters struck out 14 times.

Garrett Baker finished 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.

All three runs for Kannapolis came on two-out singles.
