STAT OF THE NIGHT: The Delmarva Shorebirds have played 1,042 games since the last time they played in the Rome Braves in 2004. The Shorebirds came to State Mutual Field in late April in '04 and split a four-game series.

PREVIEW: Following an off day on Tuesday, the Shorebirds hit the road for game one of a seven-game road swing and a three-game set against the Rome Braves. For the first time since April 27, 2004, the Delmarva Shorebirds play the Rome Braves. They were not scheduled to play each other between 2005 and 2010. The Shorebirds travelled to Rome between April 24 and April 27 of '04 and split a four-game series.

STREAKING SHOREBIRDS: Catcher Joe Oliveira (13-of-39, .333) takes an 11-game hitting streak into game one, shortstop Garabez Rosa (15-for-35, .428) has a nine-game hit streak, infielder Michael Mooney (10-of-21, .476) has a five-game hit streak. All three are season highs for the respective players.

LEAD'S ORIOLES SYSTEM: Brenden Webb leads all Orioles minor leaguers with 57 walks on the season. Steve Bumbry (Frederick) is second in the system with 50. Webb ranks second in the Orioles system in total strikeouts with 101. Xavier Avery of Bowie (Double-A) leads the chain with 108.

A LEADER IN THE SYSTEM: Ty Kelly ranks fifth in the Orioles system in batting (.303) and tied for third in the system in hits with 91.

RARE COMPANY FOR KELLY: With 9 more hits, Ty Kelly will become just the second player in franchise history to record 100 hits in two different seasons. The only other player to accomplish the feat is Quincy Ascencion, who had 112 hits in 2005 and 104 hits in 2006. Kelly had 126 hits in 2010 (17th most in a single season in franchise history) and has 91 hits this year.

BYWATER DEBUTS: Bywater did not sign with the Orioles until the August 16 deadline last year. In 2010 at Pepperdine, he went 6-5 with a 2.40 ERA in 13 starts. He had 83 strikeouts to 30 BB.

ROONEY LIKES THE ROAD: Michael Rooney is batting .364 in 14 road games for the Shorebirds and just .122 in 12 home games.
