Ramon Flores' bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the fourth inning erased a 3-0 Lexington lead, and the Charleston RiverDogs took the opener of a three-game series 6-5 Wednesday night in Charleston.

With the help of three Charleston errors, the Legends scored two runs in the first inning and one in the second. Delino DeShields Jr. led off the game with a single, and when the ball got past right fielder Taylor Grote for an error, DeShields continued to third base. DeShields scored on Jay Austin's ground ball to second base, and Austin was safe at first on an error by second baseman Anderson Feliz. Austin stole second, and with two outs, Ben Heath doubled, scoring Austin with the Legends' second run.

The Legends took a 3-0 lead in the second. Emilio King led off with a single. Jhonny Medrano singled to right field, and King, after stopping at second, continued to third on Grote's second error of the game. Ben Orloff sacrificed Medrano to second as King held at third. DeShields' sacrifice fly to center field scored King from third, but Medrano was thrown out trying to advance to third after the catch.

In the bottom of the fourth, Grote and Feliz singled, and with two outs, Eduardo Sosa singled to load the bases. Flores hit a drive into the gap in right center field, scoring all three runners, and Flores also came around to score on center fielder Austin's throwing error, giving Charleston a 4-3 lead.

Feliz hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to give the RiverDogs a 6-3 advantage, but the Legends rallied with two runs in the sixth. Tyler Burnett doubled to lead off the inning, went to third on King's ground out and scored on Medrano's sacrifice fly. Orloff followed with a double and scored on a single by DeShields.

The Legends put two runners on in the seventh and ninth innings, but could not score.

Charleston starter Jose Ramirez (5-3) pitched the first six innings and got the win. Mike Foltynewicz (5-8), who worked the first four innings for Lexington, took the loss.

The two teams meet again Thursday night at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park in Charleston. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
