BlueClaws Win 8-2 on Wednesday

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws beat the Greenville Drive 8-2 on Wednesday in the opener of their 3 game series. The game was much closer than the final score indicated with Lakewood scoring 5 times in the 8th inning to blow it open. Philadelphia Phillies Relief Pitcher Brad Lidge pitched a perfect 8th inning as he was making his 4th rehab appearance for the BlueClaws.

David Buchanan pitched fantastic for Lakewood as he earned his league leading 10th win of the season. Buchanan allowed 2 hits and 2 runs/1earned while striking out 7 over 7 innings of play. Lidge pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th, then Ryan Duke closed it out in the 9th for Lakewood. Keith Couch got the loss for Greenville to fall to 3-3 after allowing 4 hits and 3 runs over 6 innings.

Cameron Rupp continues to hit the ball well for Lakewood as he was 3-3 with 3 RBI's and a hit by pitch. Rupp blew the game open with a 2 RBI single in the 8th the make it 6-2 and the BlueClaws never looked back. Over his last 18 games, Rupp is 26 for his last 64 at the plate and has hit safely in 17 of those 18 games. Jim Murphy also went 2-4 for Lakewood including an RBI single and a big Double off the Centerfield wall.

Lakewood will send out lefty Jesse Biddle on Thursday and Greenville will counter with righty Scott Swinson. Biddle is 5-6 with a 3.10 ERA and has won 2 straight starts. Swinson is 2-2 with a 2.44 ERA. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
