STAT OF THE DAY: The combination of Nicky Delmonico and Connor Narron have 19 of the 46 (41 percent) RBIs through 11 games in the month of June. The duo has 27 of the 86 hits in the month (31 percent). They are hitting .360 as a duo.
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds split their fourth doubleheader of the year last night, falling 2-1 in game one and taking game two, 6-4 in 11 innings. Nicky Delmonico drove in four of the seven total runs yesterday for the Shorebirds. The combination of Matt Bywater and David Baker shut down Lakewood over the final 5.1 innings of game two.
BACK-TO-BACK SERIES WINS: The Shorebirds have secured back-to-back series wins for the first time this season. They have not won three straight series this season. The last time the Shorebirds won three straight series was between April 19 and May 3 of last season when they won 11 of 14 games (including 11 in a row).
BYWATER DEALING: In six appearances out of the bullpen, Matt Bywater has not allowed a single earned run in 12 innings pitched (0.00 ERA). In 12 innings, he has allowed just four total hits. SAL hitters are 4-for-39 against Bywater this season.
FOWLER'S DOMINANCE: Zach Fowler has not allowed an earned run in seven consecutive outings to lower his ERA from 11.25 (April 28) to 2.70 (current). He has not allowed an earned run in 12.2 consecutive innings. During the time frame, Fowler has a 19:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He has given up just eight hits in the last 12.2 innings.
7 RBI IN LAST 3: Nicky Delmonico has seven RBIs in his last three games played to increase his total to 41, most in the Orioles minor league system. Delmonico is now tied for tenth in the SAL in runs-batted-in. Delmonico is also improving against left-handed pitching. He hit a 3-run homer against LH Ervis Manzanillo on June 9 and had a two-run single against LH Jim Birmingham last night.
GIVENS' 3-HIT NIGHT: Mychal Givens had his third three-hit game of the season in game two.
