
Meyer Earns Shutout in Suns 40th Win

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (40-24) beat the Hickory Crawdads (34-30) in a rain shortened game, 4-0, after 5 1/2 innings at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night. With the win, Hagerstown closed the gap behind first place Greensboro to 1.5 games with five left to play in the first half schedule.
Suns starting pitcher Alex Meyer (6-3) remained perfect at home, improving to 5-0 at Municipal Stadium with a six shutout innings. Meyer allowed just two hits and struck out five batters in the complete game of his professional career.
The Suns used a two-out, three-run rally in the fourth inning to open the scoring in the game. Caleb Ramsey, Cole Leonida and Billy Burns all had RBI singles in the frame. Matt Skole also added an RBI hit in the game, his 58th run batted in of the season.
Crawdads' starting pitcher Luke Jackson (5-5) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits over five innings.
The Suns will play their final home game before the All-Star break on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Hagerstown will have LHP Kylin Turnbull (2-3, 4.68) on the mound against LHP Victor Payano (4-3, 3.54) for the Crawdads.
