SALISBURY, MD - A 3-run first inning and strong pitching propelled the Shorebirds to their fourth straight win over the Fredericksburg Nationals and secured the 'Birds their first series win of the year. Delmarva improves to 7-3 on the season as Fredericksburg falls to 0-10.
The contest started with 6 of the first 7 Shorebirds batters reaching base to plate 3 runs and chasing Nats starter Rodney Theophile out of the game after recording just 1 out. After a double, walk, and single to begin the game, Jordan Westburg was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to plate the Shorebirds first run of the game.
Shortly after, J.D. Mundy worked himself a bases loaded walk to plate the second run of the game and Jordan Cannon would follow with a RBI groundout to plate Gunnar Henderson and give the Shorebirds the early 3-0 lead.

In the ninth, Anthony Servideo would reach on a leadoff walk and would later score after a 2-run homer from Westburg to break things wide open with the Shorebirds holding a commanding 6-1 lead.

Denoyer got his second start of the year and threw 4 strong innings giving up just 1 run on 5 hits and punching out 7 Fredericksburg batters. Then, the bullpen duo of Xavier Moore and Thomas Girard would take over for Denoyer in the fifth, surrendering just 1 hit, 0 runs, and striking out 9 to secure the victory for Delmarva.
