Big Eighth-Inning Lifts Pelicans Past Jackets Again

North Augusta, SC - The Pelicans swarmed the Jackets in the 8th inning on Tuesday. On Thursday, Myrtle Beach did it again. A three-run 8th inning gave the Pelicans the lead, and they'd hang on by a final of 4-3.
Despite the loss, the Jackets got another great start from Darius Vines (5 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 6 K). The Augusta offense was held to just four hits.
Myrtle Beach scored first in the 6th inning. Edmond Americaan hit his 2nd home run of the season to make it 1-0. The GreenJackets offense utilized a patient approach in the 8th inning. Landon Stephens drew the third walk of the inning, and with the bases loaded, the free pass brought in a run to tie the game.
Willie Carter extended his hitting streak to six games with a single to make it 2-1. A Javier Valdes sacrifice fly made it 3-1 Augusta.
In the home-half of the inning, two walks and two hit batsmen didn't help the Jackets cause. Eight Pelicans came to the plate in the inning. Yohendrick Pinango broke the tie with an RBI-single giving Myrtle Beach the lead for good at 4-3.
Carlos Ocampo grabbed the first out of the 9th, but it was Bailey Reid to come in and collect the save.
NOTES:
Cade Bunnell walked for the 8th time this year. Despite hitting just .100, he has an OBP of .357.
Vaughn Grissom extended his hitting streak to four games.
Darius Vines has not allowed a run in his first two starts (10 total innings). Vines has 10 strikeouts and only three walks.
