Shootout goes to Arizona

The Amarillo Gorillas could not jump past the Arizona Sundogs Saturday night, falling 5-4 in a shootout.
Arizona and Amarillo played to a one-one tie in the opening period of play. Arizona's Brett Hemingway flew across the Gorillas line and fed Konrad Reeder who notched his fifth goal of the season. The Gorillas stormed back at the 12:20 mark when Jason Chafe feathered a pass to Jake Morissette at the far circle. The Gorillas' leading scorer rifled his shot past Arizona goaltender JF Perras to tie the game at one.
Konrad Reeder found the twine twice two minutes into the second period for his first hat trick since March 21st, 2008 in Amarillo versus the Gorillas. The home team would not panic, as Andrew Smale & Jake Morissette notched Amarillo's markers at the 13:07 and 18:38 marks. End of two, Amarillo 3 Arizona 3.
Amarillo forward Chris Cloud gave the Gorillas their first lead of the game five minutes into the third, scorching his shot past JF Perras for his second goal of the season. Arizona would counter at the 11:14 mark to tie the game at four. The Gorillas fended off back-to-back Arizona power-plays to end the period. At the end of regulation, Amarillo 4 Arizona 4.
No one scored in overtime and the game went to a shootout. The shootout went to the bottom of the fifth round tied at two, where Arizona forward Kevin Gardner netted the game-winning goal. Final score in a shootout, Arizona 5 Amarillo 4.
Morissette earned his second multi-goal game of the season (his last coming on opening night 10/16 @ Wichita)...Andrew Smale has three goals over his last two games, he had three goals through 63 games last season...Gorillas are now 1-0-1 versus Arizona this season.
