Palmer Shuts Out Bucks, 2-Lared'0'Lared'0'

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - It was a memorable night for Texas' rookie goaltender Joe Palmer in Laredo stopping 33 shots faced for his first professional shutout and the 2-0 victory.

A good start was necessary for Texas in their third game in as many nights against a tough Laredo team, and it was the league's leading goal scorer among defensemen, Kevin McLeod who took the challenge into his own hands at the 6:37 mark in the first. Fresh off the faceoff McLeod beat Bucks netminder Jean-Philippe Levasseur for the one goal lead.

In his return back to his former team of six seasons, Brahmas agitator, James Hiebert dropped the gloves with Justin Styffe within two seconds of play in the middle frame. Hiebert must have found some motivation in the shower of boos from the Laredo stands leading to Texas' second goal of the night from the former Buck on the powerplay. It was an initial shot from Jordan Cameron from the top of the point that made its way to Hiebert's blade for his third goal of the season.

Texas decided to test their own goaltender in the third as they found themselves in penalty trouble with five penalties in the third and two 5-on-3 powerplay opportunities for Laredo. But the night was all about the strong defensive efforts and Palmer's solid play as they stoned the Bucks 2-0. Texas' powerplay went 1-for-4 on the job and the Brahmas now own a 5-0 record when scoring first in a game.

The Brahmas return home Wednesday, November 25 to face the Odessa Jackalopes in the first game in their two game "Military Nights" series. Texas will be donning special "Lady Liberty" jerseys in honor of the troops. For ticket information to the 7:05 PM faceoff, please call (817) 336-4423.
