Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, LA – Louisiana IceGators Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Todd Gordon today announced the team has traded left wing Dennis Shiryaev to the Bakersfield Condors for cash considerations.

Shiryaev was the first player signed by Coach Todd Gordon in the off season. He set personal highs for goals (11), assists (15) and points (26) in 2003-04 despite missing 30 games due to a torn bicep. Respected as one of the true heavyweights in the ECHL, Shiryaev amassed 645 minutes in three injury plagued seasons with Louisiana.

"Dennis Shiryaev has been a good player for the IceGators over the years and this was not an easy trade to make," said Gordon. "The decision was made to go with younger players and move the team in a new direction. We wish Dennis and his family the best of luck."

In other moves, the team has released defensemen Jake Gibson and Matt Moore along with goaltender Jeff Harvey. All three rookies had signed tryout contracts and are now free agents.

Individual game tickets for all 36 regular season home games are on sale now. Tickets are available at the Cajundome Box Office, and all TicketMaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com. For more information call the IceGators office at (337) 234-4423.
