Falcons Make Roster Moves
October 19, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have begun to pare their pre-season roster in advance of tomorrow's 12 p.m. PDT deadline for the submission of opening day rosters to the ECHL. Centerman Brian Passmore was traded to the Texas Wildcatters in exchange for defenseman Clint Cabana and right winger Jordan Landry and defensemen Nathan Horne and Jack Redlick were released.
Cabana has played for seven different teams throughout his six-year professional career, including 36 games for the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch and parts of two seasons with the San Diego Gulls in 2001-02 and 2002-03. The hard-nosed blue-liner was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 7th Round (175th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft and has recorded 51 points (11g-40a) and 1,266 penalty minutes in 258 pro contests. Passmore returns to the team from which the Falcons acquired him last year in exchange for defenseman Mark Jackson and forward Adam Stefishen. He played 19 games in a Fresno uniform, totaling three goals and five assists.
Like Passmore, Landry and Horne were two of the nine returning Falcons to begin training camp with the club. Landry helped the team advance to the seventh game of the 2002-03 Taylor Cup Finals as a rookie before suffering a devastating ankle injury early last season that limited him to 29 games during his sophomore campaign. Horne played for three teams last season before landing in Fresno, where he appeared in 43 games as one of the Falcons' steadiest defensemen. Redlick fell short of making the club as a 6'3", 235 lb. rookie defenseman out of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Over the weekend Fresno also released Karlis Gajevskis, Jozef Kubaliak, Brian Sommariva and Mark Wasmuth, all of whom were in camp on professional tryout agreements.
The Falcons officially begin the 2004-05 ECHL season on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Single-game tickets for all 36 regular season home games at Save Mart Center are now on sale for as low as $8 per seat. Tickets may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
