Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliates of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on a contract with Polish-born defenseman Adam Borzecki. In addition, Manchester has assigned forwards David Steckel and George Parros and defenseman Beau Geisler to the Royals.
Borzecki, 26, is entering his fifth year of professional hockey. He began his professional career in the ECHL in 1999-00 under current Royals coach Derek Clancey. His rookie season translated to his best season statistically. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman posted a career best seven goals, 28-points and 153 penalty minutes. Borzecki brings to Reading 182 games of IHL or AHL experience.
"Adam was extremely solid for me in Jackson several years back. He is big and versatile and brings some veteran experience to a young hockey club," commented Coach Derek Clancey.
The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals.
The Reading Royals open their fourth season Saturday, October 23 at 7:05 in the Sovereign Center against archrival Trenton. The fun begins at 2:00 p.m. with the 2nd Annual Bleed Purple Block Party! Food vendors, kids games, Miller-Keystone Blood Center, Alex's Lemonade stand and KATSU, Jennifer Marks and UUU will be on Penn Street outside the Sovereign Center. The first 7,000 fans through the gates at game time receive free Royals Bleed Purple t-shirts, plus a live jersey auction will be held at the conclusion of the game!
