(Brockton, Mass.) - Zach Zuercher

(12-4) finished what he started Saturday night, fanning nine Rox en route to his league leading twelfth victory, as the Worcester Tornadoes (20-11, 41-37) made it back-to-back wins over the Brockton Rox (20-13, 46-33) 5-2 and assumed sole possession of first place in the second half standings.

The complete game for Zuercher was his third of the season as the southpaw dominated, allowing only six hits and two runs (one earned) without walking a single batter.

Jake Loye

(3-5) took the loss for

Brockton, lasting six and 1/3 innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on eleven hits, while striking out four and walking none.

The Tornadoes got on the board in the second frame, scoring three runs on five hits, highlighted by Cameron Monger's two-run blast, that made the lead 3-0.

Worcester

added some insurance, scoring two unearned runs in the seventh on a Chris Colabello two-run double that followed a bunt single, a sacrifice and two errors.

The bright spots for the Rox offensively were a 2-for-4 night from Shawn Williams, a Melvin Falu (8) solo home run and the first hit and RBI this season for newcomer Jeremy Hunt.

Brad Hertzler

and Mark Rosen combined for two and 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

The series and homestand wrap up Sunday evening with first pitch scheduled for

5:05 p.m.

at Campanelli Stadium.

Veteran righthander Freddy Flores (6-6, 4.15) toes the rubber for the Rox and will be opposed by Ryan Bicondoa (4-1, 2.79) as Brockton looks to pull even with Worcester in the second half standings.
