
Sharks Sunk by Phantoms, 4-3

WORCESTER, MA - The Worcester Sharks were spooked by the Adirondack Phantoms in a 4-3 loss on Saturday night at the DCU Center.
Worcester's John McCarthy scored for the second night in a row and captain Ryan Vesce extended his point streak to five games wit a second period tally.
Adirondack's Sean Curry scored his first goal of the season and the first of the night at 2:56 in the opening period when he fired a shot from the point that snuck through Alex Stalock's pads. John McCarthy evened the score for the Sharks when he tipped in Benn Ferriero's rebound at 6:53. Worcester lengthened the gap at 9:44 when Dan DaSilva took a shot from the right circle that was grabbed by Brandon Mashinter and flipped in behind him, putting the score at 2-1.
At 12:40 in the second period, Ryan Vesce scored off a feed from Logan Couture in front of the net to bring the Sharks up 3-1. Adirondack's Jonathon Kalinski quickly answered the goal with one of his own at 14:25, making it 3-2. Shots in the second period were 12-10 in favor of Worcester.
The Phantoms evened the score at 5:35 in the third period when Joey Mormina's shot bounced off of Stalock's stick, allowing Stefan Legein to tie the score, 3-3. Adirondack struck again at 8:52 when Jared Ross' shot was deflected into the Sharks' net, giving the visitors the 4-3 win.
With the loss, the Sharks move to 16-12-0-2 (34 points) on the season.
