
P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 3-2

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 3-2 Saturday evening in overtime at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Andrew Bodnarchuk, Mikko Lehtonen and Zach Hamill. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 7:05 p.m. for a Family Game against the Lowell Devils.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead at the 8:51 mark of the opening period. Bill Thomas tallied his fourth goal of the season, while Liam Reddox recorded the lone assist. The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 19:26 mark. Julien Brouillette sent the puck into the zone for Zach Hamill who passed it to Bodnarchuk. From just inside the blue line he blasted the puck into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. The game went into the first intermission tied at one.
Springfield retook the lead at the 15:42 mark. Colin McDonald netted an unassisted goal, his sixth goal of the season. The Falcons went into the second intermission leading 2-1.
Providence tied the game at two at the 17:31 mark of the third period. Trent Whitfield won the face off and sent the puck to Jamie Arniel. He found Lehtonen on the side of the net, who tallied his 11th goal of the season. The game went into overtime tied at two.
The P-Bruins grabbed their first lead of the game at the 1:02 mark of overtime. From the slot, Hamill scored unassisted, his fifth goal of the season as Providence went on to the 3-2 victory.
Kevin Regan stopped 25 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jean-Philippe Levasseur made 25 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins wrap up the weekend Sunday at The Dunk against the Lowell Devils at 7:05 p.m. for a Family Game. Receive one ticket, hot dog and soda for one low price.
