MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, rallied with seven runs in the seventh in a come-from-behind 9-5 victory over the Frederick Keys in their return home to TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark on Thursday night. Christopher Bostick and Joey Gallo both homered, and the bullpen tossed five scoreless frames to finish off the Keys.

Both teams traded runs in the first. Frederick strung together three singles for their tally, while Bostick provided the first inning offense on one swing of the bat with his fourth homer of the season.

Frederick (10-14) retook the lead and broke open the game with a four-run fourth inning. Sending nine men to the plate, the Keys walked three times off of Pelicans left-hander Victor Payano and collected three hits, including doubles by Sammie Star and Jason Esposito.

Payano went just four innings on Thursday night. He allowed five runs, all earned, on seven hits and four walks, a hit batter, and three strikeouts.

The bottom half of the inning saw the Pelicans (16-9) draw one-run closer. Gallo drove in his first run of the game on an RBI single, scoring Bostick, who scored three times on Thursday. It was the last run Brady Wager would surrender. He left after six innings with a 5-2 lead in tact.

Mychal Givens had allowed one earned run in 11.0 innings entering play on Thursday. In the seventh inning, he faced nine batters and recorded just one out. The Pelicans got a leadoff homer in the inning from Gallo to cut the lead to 5-3. The offense followed with three doubles, three singles, and a walk off of Givens, plating seven runs in the inning off of the right-hander.

The Pelicans turned a three-run deficit into a four-run lead, leading 9-5 after seven innings.

The bullpen closed the door the rest of the way. Andrew Faulkner tossed two scoreless innings, Alexander Claudio put up one zero, and Jose Leclerc added another. The Keys loaded the bases and brought the tying run to the plate against Leclerc in the ninth but could not get another run across. After starting the home slate 0-6, Myrtle Beach has won six consecutive home games. The team has the best overall record in the Carolina League as well, and maintained their one game edge on the Salem Red Sox for first place in the Southern Division standings.

The Pelicans continue their brief, one-team, four-game homestand with a tilt with the Keys on Friday night at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Pelicans send lefty Luis Parra (3-0, 4.64 ERA) against Frederick right-hander Branden Kline (1-1, 2.48 ERA). The game can be heard live on WRNN AM 1450 ESPN Myrtle Beach and on the TuneIn Radio App, with the Hampton Inn Pregame Show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
