
Seven-Run Second Inning Lifts Fisher Cats

(Manchester, NH)-Moises Sierra and Anthony Gose hit home runs and Zach Stewart picked up the win as the Fisher Cats pervailed over Binghamton 11-3 on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The game was called after four-and-a-half innings. Zach Stewart (3-2) was credited with his second career complete game, allowing six hits and three runs. He walked two and struck out eight.
The Fisher Cats (24-14), now a seasons-best 10 games over .500, sent 10 men to the plate in the bottom of the second inning. Mike McDade led off with a double and scored on a double by Travis d'Arnaud (3-for-3, 2 2B, RBI) to make it 1-0. After Craig Stansberry reached on an error, Mark Sobolewski (2-for-2, 3 RBI) drove in two runs with a double. Darin Mastroianni singled and stole second base. Adeiny Hechavarria drove in two runs with a single and Anthony Gose (1-for-2, HR, 3 RBI) followed with a home run to put the Fisher Cats up 7-0. The seven runs in an inning were the most scored in an inning this season.
Binghamton (13-23) scored in the top of the third inning. Jordany Valdespin singled and scored on a double by Josh Satin.
In the last of the third inning, d'Arnaud doubled and scored on a single by Sobolewski. Moises Sierra drilled a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning, chasing Binghamton starter Mark Cohoon (1-3) and giving the Fisher Cats an 11-1 lead.
The Mets scored two in the top of the fifth after Valdespin walked, Satin doubled and both scored on a double by Brahiam Maldanado.
The Fisher Cats conclude the series with the Mets on Thursday at 10:35am. It will be an Energy North Propane Educational Day.
