Winston-Salem Dash News Release

KINSTON, N.C. - Thanks to a seven-run fourth inning and a strong start from Lincoln Henzman, the Dash defeated the Down East Wood Ducks 8-2 on Friday night at Grainger Stadium.

Down 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth, the Dash (20-20) offense went to work, sending 13 men to the plate in the frame. Leading off the inning, Tyler Frost crushed a solo homer to right against Francisco Villegas (0-2) to cut the deficit to 2-1. Nick Madrigal followed with a single, and Jameson Fisher stroked a double down the right-field line to put runners on second and third with nobody out.

After Zach Remillard walked to load the baes, Craig Dedelow smacked a grand slam to right-center to make it a 5-2 contest. For Dedelow, it was his seventh homer of the season, and it was the second grand slam hit by a Dash batter this year.

Winston-Salem was not done, though. With Wes Robertson replacing Villegas, Carlos Perez and Jordan George smacked back-to-back singles. Then, Tate Blackman was hit by a pitch to load the bases. On a 1-0 pitch, Yeyson Yrizarri lofted a sacrifice fly to left to put Winston-Salem ahead 6-2. Madrigal, who finished with two hits, plated the frame's final run on a run-scoring single to right.

Despite giving up solo homers to Sam Huff and Eric Jenkins, Henzman was stellar in his seventh start of the year. The former fourth-round pick logged his first quality start of the season and his longest outing at the High-A level, tossing six innings and allowing five hits and two runs while striking out three. Henzman ended his night retiring 12 out of the final 14 Down East (29-13) hitters he faced.

Jake Elliott relieved Henzman and allowed just one hit across two innings, while Luis Ledo wrapped up the victory with a scoreless ninth inning.

The Dash continue their three-game set against the Wood Ducks on Saturday at Grainger Stadium. Left-hander John Parke (1-2, 3.96 ERA) will take the hill for Winston-Salem against Wood Ducks left-hander John King (0-0, 1.50 ERA). First pitch is set for 6 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.

Following their seven-game road trip, the Dash will return to BB&T Ballpark for a four-game set with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers from Monday though Thursday. Promotions include a Free Food Monday, with free hot dogs and fries available until 8:30 p.m., and corndogs while supplies last. Tuesday's game will be a Taco Tuesday, with $2 tacos available at the concession stand behind home plate. The series finale will be a Lowes Foods Thirsty Thursday and a Pups in the Park Night presented by Handy and Handy Orthodontics.
