Series Finale Between Keys and Astros Cancelled

August 12, 2018 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

FREDERICK, MD-The Frederick Keys and the Buies Creek Astros made it into the bottom of the third inning, but the rains came, leaving the field unplayable and resulting in the game being cancelled. Frederick and Buies Creek will not meet again in the second half.

Fans with tickets to Sunday's game may redeem them for any remaining 2018 regular season game based on availability. All exchanges must be made by visiting the box office.

At the time of the game being cancelled, the Astros had a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the third. Buies Creek plated two runs in the first off Keys starter Mike Baumann. Corey Julks hit a solo homer to left, while three straight singles followed to put the visitors ahead by two.

In the bottom of the second, Preston Palmeiro pulled the Keys within one with an opposite field home run off Peter Solomon. After Baumann pitched a scoreless third, Daniel Fajardo reached on an error to open the home third before the rains came.

Following an off-day on Monday, the Keys begin a three-game series with the Salem Red Sox on Tuesday night. Right-hander Matthias Dietz (0-5, 9.00) makes the start for the Keys. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m and the broadcast can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn App starting at 6:45 p.m. For tickets, fans can call 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.
