Last time out...
The Florence Freedom (41-52) pounded out 11 hits in a 6-4 victory in game one of Sunday's double header with the Evansville Otters (55-35) but got shutout for the fifth time this season in a 3-0 loss in game two. Adam Taylor put the Freedom on the board with a RBI single in the second inning. In the third, Sam Eberle singled with one out. Sosnoskie doubled him home to extend the lead to 2-0. Eberle finished 6-8 in the double header. Bryan Soloman got things started in the fourth with a single. Chance Ross bunted him over and Zak Blair doubled him home. Eberle singled home Blair and just like that it was 4-0 Freedom. Florence would extend their lead to 6-1 before the Otters rallied to cut the lead to 6-4. Chuck Weaver got the win and Ed Kohout nailed down the save. The Freedom tallied five hits and drew five walks in game two but left all 10 men on base as the Otters pitching staff shut them out.
For Starters...
Casey Henn is making his 19th start of the season tonight. Henn has won four consecutive starts, including his most recent start on August 27 against Joliet. In that outing Henn went seven and a third innings, giving up four runs, three of them earned, while allowing six hits. He walked one and struck out four in the 9-7 win. Henn faced River City on June 29 and picked up the win, going seven shutout innings, scattering five hits, walking two and striking out six in the 4-1 victory. Henn is tied for second in the league in wins (9); he's seventh in ERA (2.76), fifth in strikeouts (102), and fifth in innings pitched (114.1). Henn had a sensational rookie season for the Freedom, posting a 5-0 record with a 3.67 ERA for Florence fresh out of Wright State University. In nine appearances, eight starts, Henn struck out 38 batters in 49 innings while only allowing only 39 hits.
Against the Rascals...
The Freedom have a record of 3-3 this season against the River City Rascals. They took two of three from River City at UC Health Stadium June 28-29.
Home is where the wins are...
The Freedom have a record of 28-23 at home this season, compared to a 13-29 record on the road.
A chance to play spoiler...
The Freedom may be eliminated from the playoffs but they have a chance to hurt River City's division title chances this series. The Rascals are currently tied with the Schaumburg Boomers for first place in the west division.
Looking back at August...
The Freedom finished the month of August with a record of 15-15 and 8-6 at home. The 15-15 record was their best record in a month since May (7-7).

The Freedom traded RHP Jorge Marban to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs for a player to be named later today. The Freedom also signed Pete Rose.

Ryan Solberg is wearing jersey #61 tonight. The jersey will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky.
