
Sens offense explodes in 9-1 win

On Monday night in Trenton, the Sens exploded for a 9-1 win over the Trenton Thunder. After sweeping Trenton in three games over the weekend at Metro Bank Park, the Sens won their fourth straight against the Thunder.
Luis Atilano won his fifth game of the year, going seven strong innings without allowing an earned run. He was helped out by the Sens defense with a couple of double plays. Justin Jones pitched the final two innings, retiring all six batters he faced.
The Sens started their scoring barrage in the third inning. They plated three runs on run scoring singles by Michael Daniel and Matt Whitney and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bill Rhinehart.
They scored three more in the fourth. Freddie Bynum had a run scoring single and Daniel hit a two-run home run to give the Sens a 6-0 lead.
In the fifth, Leonard Davis doubled and Matt Whitney followed with his second rbi single of the game to give the Sens a 7-0 lead. They scored two more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Daniel led the Sens with three hits while Edgardo Baez, Sean Rooney, Whitney and Bynum had two hits each.
The Sens are now 45-55 on the season while Trenton falls to 50-51. The two teams continue their long home and home series on Tuesday afternoon at 12:05pm with RH Adrian Alaniz making the start for the Sens opposed by RH Jason Stephens for Trenton.
