Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Bowie Baysox downed the Harrisburg Senators 8-4 Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium. The Senators head into the All-Star break 46-43 and in third place in the Eastern League Western Division.
Austin Davidson got the scoring started for the Senators with a solo home run to right with one out in the second as the club took an early 1-0 advantage.
Bowie responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame. D'Arby Myers singled in the first run to tie the game. One batter later, Erick Salcedo singled in a run with a line drive to center and an additional run scored when Senators center fielder Hunter Jones' throw to third base went out of play.
Ryan Mountcastle doubled the lead in the third with a three-run homer to left to put the Baysox ahead 6-1.
The Baysox added a run in the fourth on a run-scoring fielder's choice by Aderlin Rodriguez.
The Senators rallied for a pair of runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Adam Brett Walker and run scoring infield single by Hunter Jones, and scored another in seventh when Austin Davidson hit into a run scoring fielder's choice with the bases loaded and nobody out.
That was as close as the comeback would get as Martin Cervenka hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth to put Bowie ahead 8-4 which was the final score.
Bowie starter Luis Ysla (5-3) picked up the win with five and a third innings of three run ball. Senators starter Tyler Mapes (1-1) took the loss. The right-hander allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits across three innings.
Four Senators finished with multiple hits, led by Hunter Jones who went 3-4 with an RBI.
After the three-day All-Star break, the Senators begin a seven-game homestand, beginning with a four-game series against the Hartford Yard Goats which starts Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
