Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Sens parlayed two wild pitches into a two-out eighth inning run to defeat Trenton 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Trenton. It wasn't a pretty game in hot and humid conditions, but the Sens persevered for the win.

Carlos Martinez picked up the win in relief, his sixth on the season while Jack Spradlin notched the final two outs for his fourth save. Adrian Alaniz started and worked through five innings allowing just a single run.

The Sens took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back two-out doubles off the bats of Leonard Davis and Joel Guzman. The Sens would load the bases in the second with one out, but they didn't score.

Trenton scored their run with two outs in the third to tie the game at one each.

Both teams then went through several scoring opportunities but failed to score.

The Senators broke through in the eighth. Edgardo Baez hustled a long single in a double leading off the inning. He was wild pitched to third with no outs and was still down there with two-outs. He was then wild pitched home giving the Sens a 2-1 lead.

Trenton hit into an inning ending double play in the eighth, and then Spradlin recorded the games final out on a strikeout with the tying run at second.

The Sens have now won five in a row, all over Trenton, and move to 46-55 while Trenton falls to 50-52. In the five games the Sens have limited Trenton to just eight runs.

The two teams play a doubleheader on Wednesday at 6:05pm with RH Erik Arnesen going in game one for the Sens against LH Wilkin De La Rosa for Trenton. Game two has RH Brad Meyers on the hill for the Sens against RH Josh Schmidt for Trenton.
