Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Senators announced today that they will debut their special third jerseys on Thanksgiving when the team hosts the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings) at 6:05 p.m. in the only AHL game scheduled Thursday night.

The jerseys, with a black base, will be trimmed in red, white, and antique gold, and feature the team's primary logo. The third jersey will be worn by the team on special dates. A complete schedule of dates is to be determined.

In conjunction with the debut of the third jersey, the team's in-arena souvenir shops will make the jerseys available for purchase at tomorrow night's game. The jerseys will also be available for purchase at the team's Center Ice Team Shops at Metrocenter and Oakdale Mall beginning Friday, November 29th.

The Thanksgiving night game was as traditional a holiday staple as turkey and football in the American Hockey League's previous run in Binghamton. The team intends to maintain that traditional date in years to come.

"Crowds were routinely over 4,000 most every year for the Thanksgiving game," said Executive Vice President Tom Mitchell. "After a long day and plenty of food, people are looking for a chance to get out of the house for something different."

"Our organization intends to make this date an annual request when the schedule is put together. And of course, the cooperation by the Grand Rapids Griffins in this instance, is key in making this holiday game becoming realty," Mitchell added.

Tickets for the Thanksgiving game, as well as all remaining regular season home games, may be purchased at the Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, the Center Ice Team Shop at Metrocenter, or by calling the Sens Hotline at 722-SENS. The Senators' office will be open at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning to enable fans to purchase tickets for the Grand Rapids contest.
