Senators Use Pair of Big Hits to Take Opening Series

The Senators used a two-run home run and a two-run double to beat the Altoona Curve 5-3 Sunday afternoon in Altoona. Coupled with their win Friday night, the Senators took the season opening series from Altoona. Cole Henry started for Harrisburg and pitched three strong innings. Matt Brill earned his second save in three games.

ON CAPITAL HILL

Cole Henry started and struck out five in three frames while allowing two hits. He faced 12 batters and threw 49 pitches, 31 strikes. Alberto Guerrero earned the win, going three innings. He did allow two runs but also struck out four. Ramon Santos and Reid Schaller both pitched one inning earning holds. Matt Brill worked around two hits to earn the save with the help of a double-play ball.

WITH THE GAVEL

Jecksson Flores had two hits including a two-run home run and KJ Harrison had two hits with a two-run double. Rudy Martin had the only other Sens hit, a triple.

FILIBUSTERS

One season after beginning 1-5, the Senators take 2 of three from Altoona to win their first series of the season. In 2021 the Senators only won one series. The team didn't commit an error and turned a big ninth inning double-play. Harrisburg went 1-11 with runners in scoring position.

ON DECK

The Senators and Portland Sea Dogs play game one of their six-game series Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at FNB Field. The game is the Senators 2022 home opener. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 12:45 p.m.
