BELLEVILLE, ON - A solid effort by the Belleville Senators came up short on Wednesday, as they dropped a 4-1 decision at home to the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators).

Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead via Mark Jankowski's wrist shot at 15:45 of the first period, and an Egor Afanasyev power play tip-in at 14:14 of the second, before Belleville would get its only goal early in the third. Matt Highmore took a feed from Egor Sokolov, carried the puck into the Admirals zone, and snapped a low wrist shot past Jaroslav Askarov, at 3:52.

But Belleville would only stay within a goal until 7:31 of the period, when Fedor Svechkov got in behind the Sens defence and beat Mads Sogaard. Zach L'Heureux would add an empty netter at 16:57.

Fast Facts:

Forward Matthew Highmore scored his first goal of the season and his first for Belleville

Mads Sogaard stopped 12/15 shots in the loss

Defenceman Tyler Kleven has had an assist in each of his last two games

Forward Brennan Saulnier fought with Milwaukee's Egor Afanasyev in the second period

Belleville went 0/4 on the power play

The Senators outshot the Admirals 25-15

Sound Bytes:

Belleville Sens Head Coach Dave Bell on the loss:

"There was more that I liked out of our game than the result. I really liked the attention to detail in the defensive zone, some good breakout moments and some other good things. I think as a group there was a little bit of growth."

Belleville Sens forward Matthew Highmore on tonight's performance:

"Coming into the game, we wanted to build on our performances from the weekend and I thought we did that. We got better on what we worked on. It feels like we're building, it's obviously not the result we wanted, but it's coming"
