Altoona Curve News Release
HARRISBURG, PA - Harrisburg scored five times across the seventh and eighth innings to overcome a 3-1 deficit and earn a 6-3 win over the Altoona Curve on Saturday night at FNB Field.
Working against right-hander Shea Murray in the seventh, the Senators got back-to-back doubles from Alex Dunlap and Cody Wilson to make it a 3-2 game and then Cole Freeman singled home Wilson to tie the game at three. John O'Reilly managed to maneuver out of the inning by getting Aldrem Corredor to ground out with two men on to end the inning.
Harrisburg used back-to-back singles with one out in the eighth inning to bring Alex Dunlap to the plate against O'Reilly. Dunlap dropped down a bunt that was fielded by Altoona's pitcher but his underhand throw to catcher Raul Hernandez was late allowing the Senators to take a 4-3 lead. Cody Wilson then reached on an error by first baseman Mason Martin to extend the inning and plate another run and Cole Freeman followed with an RBI single to make it 6-3.
The Curve managed to put two men aboard in the ninth inning against Harrisburg closer Frankie Bartow, but Daniel Amaral's check swing grounder stayed in fair territory down the first base line and Amaral was called out trying to avoid the tag in the base line for the final out of the ballgame.
Osvaldo Bido turned in another solid five inning outing in the defeat. Bido allowed one hit, a double to KJ Harrison leading off the fifth inning, walked two batters and struck out three on 68 pitches, 43 strikes.
The Curve got a two-hit day from Canaan Smith-Njigba which included an RBI single in the fourth inning to draw the game even at one. Rodolfo Castro hit an opposite field two-run homer in the fifth inning to give the Curve a 3-1 lead at the time. Oneil Cruz added a two-hit day out of the leadoff spot in the batting order.
