
Senators shut down by Erie in 3-1 loss

The Harrisburg Senators fell to the Erie SeaWolves 3-1 on Saturday night for their third straight loss after winning ten straight. Luke Putkonen picked up his first win of the season for Erie against seven loses by shutting out the Senators for seven innings.
The only run the Sens scored was on a balk in the eighth inning. Senators' starting pitcher Oliver Perez pitched seven plus innings allowing just three runs, with two of them in the first inning. Erie had three consecutive two-out hits and with a stolen base included, turned those into two runs. They tacked on a run in the fourth on back to back doubles to take a 3-0 lead.
Harrisburg had two runners on base with two outs if the sixth but didn't score. They put two on with one-out in the eighth but scored just one on a balk. Tyler Moore led off the ninth with a single, giving the Sens two chances with the tying run at the plate by Derek Norris flied out to deep left and Bill Rhinehart grounded into a game ending double play.
Tyler Moore and Jonathan Tucker both had two hits in the loss for the Sens.
Erie goes for the sweep on Sunday afternoon as the Sens send RH Tanner Roark to the mound against LH Jay Voss for Erie. Game time on Sunday is 1:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 12:50 p.m.
