Putkonen Tosses Seven Scoreless as 'Wolves Win Fourth Straight

The SeaWolves struck for early runs and won their fourth straight game on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park, 3-1 over the Harrisburg Senators. The win equals Erie's longest winning streak of the season.

The ‘Wolves got on the board in the bottom of the first inning against Harrisburg starter Oliver Perez. With two outs, Francisco Martinez singled to left and stole second. Rawley Bishop singled home Martinez for a 1-0 lead. With Bishop on second, Audy Ciriaco singled home Bishop for a 2-0 lead.

The SeaWolves added to the lead in the fourth. Bishop led off and doubled and came home on a Ciriaco double for a 3-0 advantage.

Harrisburg got on the board in the eighth against reliever Rob Waite. With one out, Jonathan Tucker and Steve Lombardozzi each singled putting runners on first and second. The runners advanced on a Josh Johnson groundout and Tucker came home to score Harrisburg's lone run making it a 3-1 game.

In the ninth, Waite and Austin Wood combined to shut the door. Wood earned his first save.

The story of the night was Erie's starter Luke Putkonen (1-7). Putkonen, who hadn't allowed fewer than five runs in his last four starts, held the Senators scoreless for seven innings. The righty allowed just four hits with no walks and four strikeouts. It was the first time this season he did not allow a walk.

The SeaWolves go for a series sweep on Sunday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park...1:05 First Pitch. LHP Jay Voss (1-1, 2.92 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Tanner Roark (2-1, 5.19 ERA).
