
Mastroianni Has Two Hits But Fisher Cats Fall In Ten

(Trenton, NJ)-Darin Mastroianni reached safely in four of his five plate appearances and Rey Gonzalez allowed three runs in seven innings but the Fisher Cats fell in Trenton 4-3 in 10 innings on Saturday night.
Designated hitter Cody Johnson singled with the bases loaded off in the bottom of the tenth inning off losing pitcher Frank Gailey (0-1) to give Trenton its second consecutive win in the series.
The Fisher Cats (35-20) opened the scoring in the top of the third inning. Mark Sobolewski walked and Callix Crabbe bunted him to second. After a walk to Darin Mastroianni (2-3, 2 BB), Adeiny Hechavarria reached on a fielders choice to load the bases. Anthony Gose grounded to first as Sobolewski scored for a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, Moises Sierra was hit-by-a pitch and Ricardo Nanita walked. Sierra scored on a single by Yan Gomes to make it 2-0 and Sobolewski followed with a single, scoring Nanita to make it 3-0.
Trenton (34-21) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Corban Joseph walked, Cody Johnson singled and Jose Pirala drove in two with a triple. Pirala scored on a double by Deangelo Mack to tie the game at 3-3.
Rey Gonzalez started for the Fisher Cats, working seven innings, allowing three runs ons ix hits. He walked one and struck out four. Ron Uviedo worked two scoreless innings in relief.
Thunder starter Dellin Betances pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits. He walked five and struck out five. Cory Arbiso and Fernando Hernandez combined to pitch 3.2 scoreless innings in relief. Wilkins Arias (3-0) came on after a Sierra single in the top of the tenth to strike out Nanita and Gomes to end the inning. Arias picked up the win.
The Fisher Cats conclude the series and roadtrip on Sunday afternoon at 1:05pm in Trenton. RHP Henderson Alvarez (2-0, 1.50) starts for New Hampshire against Thunder RHP Craig Heyer (4-3, 2.77). Radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Dick Lutsk begins at 12:45pm.
The Fisher Cats will return home on Tuesday, June 7 to play the Bowie Baysox at 7:05pm.
