Senators Pound out 13 Runs on 16 Hits to Defeat Curve

HARRISBUG, Pa. - Harrisburg used a four-run fourth inning to catapult itself to a, 13-2, victory over the Altoona Curve on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park. Andrew Lambo hit his sixth home run of the season and his third of the road trip in the loss. Curve starter Jameson Taillon (2-4) ended his outing early on Tuesday after being struck by a comebacker on the left leg in the fourth inning. He was taken out as a precaution and has a left shin contusion.
Taillon was hit by a liner off the bat of Ricky Hague with one on and no one out in the fourth. He walked off under his own power but did not return in the game. Both the runners that were on the bases when he left the game eventually came around and scored. Harrisburg broke the game open in that fourth inning, sending nine men to the plate and scoring a total of four runs.
Two of the four runs in the Harrisburg fourth inning were charged to Taillon, who also allowed two unearned runs in the first. He struck out three and walked one before being struck by the line drive.
Altoona never led on Tuesday and pulled closest when Lambo struck his homer in the fourth inning off Senators starter Nathan Karns (3-1). The Curve grabbed their other run in the game thanks to a Gift Ngoepe RBI double in the fifth.
From there, the Senators scored two in the sixth, one in the seventh and four more in the eighth.
Karns finished five innings and struck out eight Curve hitters to win for the second time this season when pitching against Altoona. He, along with relievers Bill Bray, Neil Holland and Aaron Barrett combined to strikeout 13 Curve hitters in the game on Tuesday.
The 13 runs allowed and 16 hits surrendered by the Curve were both season-highs.
Adalberto Santos was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning to extend his on-base streak to 17 games, which is approaching Lambo's 21-game on-base streak to begin his season.
Looking for the series win, the Curve (12-20) will meet up with Harrisburg (15-17) in the 10:30 a.m. series finale from Metro Bank Park. To the hill for the Curve in the finale will be RHP Luis Sanz (1-1, 3.29), who makes his first start of the season after beginning the year in the bullpen. Harrisburg counters with RHP Blake Treinen (3-3, 3.82) on Wednesday morning.
