Trenton Thunder News Release

TRENTON, NJ - Trenton produced just two baserunners in the first six innings of the game, but the Thunder offense produced four runs in the seventh inning to jump ahead in Tuesday night's 5-1 win over the Binghamton Mets.

With runners on second and third with one out, Slade Heathcott dug into the batter's box with a two-strike count and the Mets infield drawn-in. The score was 1-0 Binghamton, but then he scorched a single on the ground up the middle for a pair of runs and Trenton's first lead of the game. Two more runs would come home in the inning on an Ali Castillo triple, and the Thunder would secure just their second win of the season when trailing after six innings.

Thunder starting pitcher Jose Ramirez made his second start of the season (third appearance on the season overall) and went four innings, allowing just one run on a leadoff homer in the 2nd inning to Binghamton's Cesar Puello. Ramirez threw 84 pitches in the outing which marked the most pitches he has thrown in a game since returning from the disabled list April 26th.

Trenton pitching retired 22 of the final 23 batters they faced, surrendering a one out walk in the 9th inning as the lone baserunner for the Mets after the 2nd.

The Thunder and Binghamton Mets conclude their three-game series Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. The game features LHP Nik Turley (3-1, 4.91) for Trenton against RHP Logan Verrett (4-1, 3.49) for the B-Mets.
