Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators fell by walk-off for a ninth time this season as Portland's Aneury Tavarez hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Senators, 5-4, Thursday night at Hadlock Field. The Senators (50-56) have lost five straight games.

The Senators bounced back from an early 1-0 deficit to score three in the second inning on a two-run single by Derrick Robinson and an RBI knock from Chris Bostick. The Senators remained on top 3-1, when the game went into a rain delay in the bottom of the second inning. The one hour and 38 minute delay forced both starters out of the game. Harrisburg's Austin Voth left the game with runners at the corners and one out. Dakota Bacus entered after the rain delay and allowed one of Voth's runners to score before throwing 3.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

However, in the sixth inning, Bacus allowed back-to-back singles before being lifted for Bryan Harper. Harrisburg's reliever allowed an RBI single and a sacrifice fly that put Portland up 4-3 after six innings. The Senators responded quickly as Wilmer Difo singled and advanced to third on a stolen base-wild pitch combination before Bostick recorded his second RBI single of the night to tie the game 4-4. Harper and Gilberto Mendez combined to keep Portland scoreless in the seventh and eighth innings before Tavarez hit the game-winning homer in the ninth.

Bostick was the lone Senator with two hits, but Cutter Dykstra and Isaac Ballou each contributed a double to Harrisburg's cause.

Game two of four will begin tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. The pregame show will begin at 6:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
