Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - The Senators opened a three-game series in Bowie on Monday and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Baysox. The Baysox took advantage of two errors by the Sens to score four unearned runs.

Matt Chico started and took the loss, though he pitched much better than the result. Chico lasted just 3.2 innings allowing five hits and five runs, but just one earned. The Sens bullpen was again very strong with Hassan Pena and Victor Garate combining to go 4.1 shut out innings while only allowing a hit.

Jhonatan Solano and Dan Nelson both had two hits for the Sens in the loss. Harrisburg finally crossed the plate in the eighth inning when Solano scored on a wild pitch and Michael Martinez scored on an error. The Sens did have seven hits in the game as the offense is showing signs of turning things around.

Baysox starter Tim Bascom picked up the win and Armando Gabino earned his first save of the season. With the loss the Sens are now 1-4 while the Baysox improved to 4-1 in the early going.

Game two of the series is Tuesday night at 7:05pm with RH Jeff Mandel making his second start for the Senators. Bowie is sending LH Zach Britton to the hill on Tuesday. The game can be heard on 1460 AM The Ticket and through the Sens website beginning at 6:50pm.
