Harrisburg Senators News Release
Erie, PA - The Harrisburg Senators couldn't come up with the big hit during a 5-3 loss to the Erie SeaWolves, Saturday in Erie. Harrisburg hitters went 0-for-16 with runners in scoring position as the SeaWolves came back from a 3-1 deficit to win the game and the series.
The Senators had runners in scoring position in the first eight innings, but only scored in three of them as the offense struggled to come up with the big hit.
Erie OF Wilkin Ramirez was the star of the show, blasting two solo home runs. Ramirez will play in the All-Star Futures Game next month at Yankee Stadium.
Ramirez launched his first home run in the bottom of the 1st to put Erie up, 1-0.
The Senators tied the game in the top of the 2nd as Andrew LeFave ripped a two-out RBI double to make it a 1-1 game.
In the top of the 3rd, the Senators loaded the bases with three consecutive walks to start the inning. Luis Jimenez lifted a sacrifice fly to center to give Harrisburg a 2-1 lead, but that was all Harrisburg got.
The SeaWolves had a golden opportunity in the bottom of the 4th as they loaded the bases with nobody out against Harrisburg RHP Bobby Brownlie. But Brownlie slid off the hook with an infield flyout and a pair of strikeouts.
The Senators scored again in the top of the 5th. William Bergolla led off with a walk and Marco Yepez followed with an RBI double to left-center to make it a 3-1 Senators lead.
Erie scored a run in a wild bottom of the 5th. Will Rhymes led off with a single, stole second and went to third on a single by Ramirez. Ryan Roberson struck out, but the third strike got away from the catcher and Rhymes raced home to make it a 3-2 game. A double play ended the threat.
The SeaWolves proceeded to feast on the Harrisburg bullpen. After a single by Jeff Frazier, Dusty Ryan ripped a triple off the wall in right-center to tie the game. Justin Justice followed with a sacrifice fly to center to give Erie a 4-3 lead.
Ramirez hammered his second homer of the night to lead off the 7th, staking the SeaWolves to a 5-3 advantage.
RHP Josh Perrault allowed two runs in one inning and took the loss to dip to 3-2 on the season. LHP Juan Cedeno picked up the win to move to 3-1. RHP Casey Fein nabbed his second save in as many nights, his eighth on the year.
The Senators fell to 44-35. The SeaWolves improved to 35-46.
The Senators and SeaWolves finish the series Sunday at Jerry Uht Park. Game time is 1:05 PM with RHP Jordan Zimmermann (2-1, 3.21 ERA) faces Erie RHP Andrew Kown (4-9, 4.95 ERA).
