LHP Chase Wright activated from the Disabled List

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that LHP Chase Wright has been activated from the Disabled List and that RHP Jason Jones has been promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Thunder currently have 21 players on the active roster, three below the league maximum (24). Wright will take Jones's spot in the rotation and start tonight in Portland.

Wright was 6-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 10 starts for the Thunder this season. He has struck out 35 and walked 21 in 63.1 IP. Wright has been on the Disabled List since 5/25. Wright split the 2007 season between Trenton, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and New York. He was 5-2 with a 3.62 ERA in 10 starts for the Thunder. He had an 8-3 record with a 4.01 ERA in 15 G/14 GS for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He went 2-0 with a 7.20 ERA in 3 G/2 GS for New York. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 3rd round of the 2001 draft.

Jones was 8-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 15 starts for Trenton this season. He was tied for first in the Eastern League in wins and 4th in ERA. He was also T-3rd in IP. He had an 8-11 record with a 3.62 ERA in 28 G/19 GS in 2007 for the Thunder. He was 4-3 with a 4.83 ERA in 10 G/9 GS for Trenton during 2006. He was originally a 4th round selection by the Yankees in the 2004 draft. This is the first time in his career that he has been called up to Triple-A.

Trenton plays the middle game of three-game series tonight against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, in Portland, ME. Game time is set for 6:00 PM. LHP Chase Wright (4-4, 5.34) will start for Trenton against Portland RHP Matthew Goodson (4-4, 5.34). Trenton will return home on Monday night at 7:05 PM to take on Portland.
