Senators Drop Opener in Trenton

Trenton, NJ - The Harrisburg Senators took an early lead, but the Trenton Thunder stormed back with a pair of three-run innings en route to an 8-2 victory in the series opener.

In the second, Ricky Hague led off with a single and advanced to second on an error. Carlos Rivero brought him in with an RBI single to put the Senators on top. Trenton quickly responded with eight unanswered runs.

The Thunder exploded for three in the bottom of the second and three more in the fifth. Saxon Butler led the way with four RBIs, including a bases-clearing double. Ramon Flores delivered a two-run single. Trenton added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth.

In the seventh, Destin Hood laced a one-out double, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came home on Sean Nicol's sacrifice-fly.

Billy Burns had three hits on the night for the Senators. Pat Lehman and Ryan Perry each tossed a shutout inning out of the Harrisburg bullpen. Perry struck out the side. The Senators went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 runners on base.
