Senators Drop Heartbreaker, 8-5 to Altoona

Malcom Nunez hit a two-out three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to provide the winning runs in the Altoona Curve 8-5 win over the Senators. It was the third straight tight game between the teams. Harrisburg rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead, then rallied again to take a 5-4 lead before Altoona tied the score in the seventh and won on the home run in the ninth.

Jake Irvin started and pitched the first five innings. He retired the final eight batters he faced. He allowed four runs overall on six hits while striking out five. Brian Gonzalez followed going 1.1 innings and allowing a run on two hits. Edgar Garcia took the tough luck loss. He retired the first five batters he faced before allowing back-to-back infield singles to start the ninth. He then retired the next two hitters before the walk-off home run.

Harrisburg had 11 hits in the game with 14 at bats with runners in scoring position. Israel Pineda went 3-for-5 with two run scoring singles. Jackson Cluff drove in a run with a double and singled. Darren Bakker, batting in the leadoff spot, had two hits, a double, scored twice and walked. Trey Harris had two hits in the game.

The teams have been tied into the ninth inning in all three games. They've been tied, overall, going into the ninth inning in their last four games. The walk off loss is their second straight and fourth on the season.
