
Senators Can't Duck Akron in 6-2 Loss

The Akron RubberDucks defeated the Harrisburg Senators 6-2 Saturday night at Canal Park. The teams combined for four home runs as Akron evened the three-game set.
Daniel Johnson opened the scoring with a solo home run to right field in the first inning, his fourth of the season, to put the Senators ahead 1-0.
The 'Ducks took the lead in the bottom of the second when Daniel Salters hit a two-run single to drive in a pair of runners who reached on walks.
Akron expanded the lead in the third on a solo home run by Andrew Calica, followed by a two-run home run Li-Jen Chu.
Dan Gamache cut into the deficit in the fourth by launching a home run to right, his fifth of the year, to make the score 5-2.
Senators starting pitcher Wil Crowe (0-4) allowed five runs on six hits across seven innings. After allowing the five runs through the first three innings, the right-hander retired 12 of the next 13 batters.
Akron added a run in the ninth to go up 6-2 which would be the final score. They were retired in order in the ninth by R.C. Orlan who notched his second save and sealed the 'Duck victory.
'Duck starter Jake Paulson (8-5) worked seven innings of two-run ball to earn the win.
Gamache and Raudy Read led the Senators with two hits each, with the home runs by Johnson and Gamache accounting for the team's only runs.
The Senators and 'Ducks play the rubber match of their three-game series Sunday afternoon. Cesar Vargas toes the rubber for the Senators while Akron counters with starter Kyle Dowdy. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at Canal Park. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Harrisburg 96.5 & 95.3 FM and 1400 AM or at www.cbssportsharrisburg.com beginning at 1:50 p.m.
