SeaWolves' Win Streak Snapped on Saturday

July 9, 2022 - Eastern League (EL)
Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves five-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday night at FNB Field as they fell to the Harrisburg Senators 5-2.

The SeaWolves grabbed the lead in the top of the first inning against Harrisburg starter Franklyn Kilome. Daniel Cabrera led off and tripled to the gap in right-center on the first pitch of the night. He scored from third on a one-out fielder's choice from Wenceel Perez for a 1-0 lead.

Erie starter Markus Solbach held the Senators off the scoreboard into the fifth inning. Gilbert Lara led off the fifth with an opposite-field home run, tying the game 1-1.

Solbach would take the no-decision despite hurling a quality start. He allowed a run on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts in six innings of work.

Brendan White came into the game in the seventh and hurled a 1-2-3 frame but ran into trouble in the eighth. Harrisburg loaded the bases on a Jack Dunn walk, Jake Alu single and John Nogowski walk. Erie summoned Yaya Chentouf to face Wilson Garcia. On the first pitch of the at-bat, Garcia connected on a grand slam for a 5-1 Senators lead.

Harrisburg turned to Zach Brzycky in the top of the ninth in a non-save situation. Andrew Navigato belted an opposite-field home run, his eighth, with one out in the frame but that's all Erie could muster against the Harrisburg closer. The run allowed was the first in 12 appearances in Doulbe-A for Brzycky.

Kilome (3-3) earned the win for Harrisburg allowing a run on three hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in a season-high eight innings.

White (3-4) took the loss allowing three runs on one hit with two walks and no strikeouts.
