Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils won an exciting, but wet, contest 6-5 over the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The lead changed hands five times throughout the night. Johan Rojas had his first Double-A homer. He and Logan O'Hoppe recorded a multi-hit contest. Jack Perkins took the win while Braden Zarbnisky notched the save.

Rojas smacked a home run the opposite way to start off the scoring in the top of the first inning.

Richmond capitalized on the long ball as well when Brett Auerbach launched a grand slam to put the Flying Squirrels up 4-1.

Reading put up a three spot in the seventh to tie it up. O'Hoppe led off the frame with a double and Aldrem Corredor walked to get on. An RBI single from Kevin Vicuna brought home O'Hoppe. Jonathan Guzman ran out a potential double play and pushed Corredor to third. A balk by Richmond's pitcher allowed Corredor to cross and sent Guzman into scoring position. Hunter Markwardt's double brought in Guzman to tie the game up at three apiece.

The Fightins took the lead in the eighth when a sacrifice fly from Vicuna plated Rojas with the bases loaded.

In the bottom half Richmond was there to tie it up. Sean Roby hit his 23rd homer of the season to make it 5-5.

Reading battled in the top of the ninth. Markwardt was hit by a pitch to reach and stole a bag to get in scoring position. Rojas ran out another potential double play to push Markwardt to third. Rijo reached on an error by the third baseman and Markwardt took advantage to come home. The R-Phils led 6-5 once and for all.

Noah Skirrow threw five and two thirds allowing four runs on four hits, a grand slam that did the damage. He struck out a career high nine batters.

Jack Perkins got the final out of the sixth stranding a runner. He pitched a clean seventh but let up a solo shot in the eighth.

Braden Zarbnisky (S, 1) recorded a three out save to slam the door shut on Richmond.
