Garcia Slams Erie, Sens Win 5-2

The Harrisburg Senators snapped their five-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Erie SeaWolves Saturday night at FNB Field. Erie scored first with a run in the first inning by Franklyn Kilome held them in check from there to earn his third win. Gilbert Lara homered in the fifth to tie the game setting the stage for the eighth inning Wilson Garcia heroics. After a walk, single and walk and pitching change, Garcia hit the first pitch out of the park to give the Sens a 5-1 lead.

Franklyn Kilome went eight innings and allowed a run on three hits. The run came in the first inning after a leadoff triple and fielder's choice. Kilome, the reigning Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, struck out eight and didn't walk a batter. Zach Brzykcy finished the game, allowing a home run, but striking out two to finish.

Garcia's grand slam followed two walks and a single by Jake Alu. Alu had two hits in the game. Jackson Cluff had two hits, one a double off the fence in right field.

The Senators haven't committed an error in the series and continue to be the number two defensive team in the Eastern League. The grand slam by Garcia is the third of the season by the Senators. Kilome's outing was the longest by a Senators pitcher since Tyler Mapes went eight innings vs Richmond 8/2/2019.
