SeaWolves Take Series over Senators

The SeaWolves scored a pair of late runs as they took down the Harrisburg Senators 5-3 on Wednesday night at UPMC Park.
Harrisburg struck first in the top of the first inning against Erie starter A.J. Ladwig. Hunter Jones led off the game and reached on an error. Carter Kieboom singled to put two on ahead of Daniel Johnson. Johnson singled home Jones for a 1-0 lead. Raudy Read followed and hit into a double play scoring Kieboom for a 2-0 lead.
Erie responded in the bottom of the second against Harrisburg starter Jaron Long. Josh Lester led off with a walk and moved into scoring position on an Isaac Paredes base hit. Lester scored on a wild pitch making it a 2-1 game.
The SeaWolves then tied the game in the last of the third. Danny Woodrow led off with a single and moved to third on a one-out, hit and run off the bat of Will Maddox. Lester lifted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Woodrow.
Erie took the lead in the fifth. Cam Gibson led off with a single and stole second. He scored on a two out Maddox base knock for a 3-2 advantage.
The Senators tied the game in the top of the eighth against Erie reliever Trent Szkitnik. Alec Keller led off with a walk and moved to third on an Austin Davidson double. With one out, Jones lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Keller making it 3-3.
The tie did not last long as Erie regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth against reliver Ronald Pena. Paredes led off with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Jake Rogers followed with a walk. With one out, Kody Eaves hit into a fielder's choice putting runners on the corners. Gibson then lined a two-run triple to the gap in right center, putting Erie ahead 5-3.
John Schreiber (3-6) retired the final four Harrisburg batters of the game to earn the win for the SeaWolves.
Pena (1-2) took the loss for Harrisburg allowing two runs with a pair of walks and one strikeout.
Ladwig took he no-decision allowing two unearned runs on four hits with no walks and four strikeouts in 6.2 innings.
