The SeaWolves struck for a pair in the bottom of the first off of Altoona starter Phillip Irwin. Gustavo Nunez singled with one out, stole second and scored on a Rawley Bishop base knock for a 1-0 âWolves lead. Bishop was bought home on a Francisco Martinez double down the left field line, for a 2-0 Erie advantage.
The Curve got one back in the top of the fourth off of Erie starter Brooks Brown. Brock Holt led off with a double and moved to third on an Andrew Lambo fly out to right. Holt scored on a Tony Sanchez groundout, cutting the Erie lead in half at 2-1.
The âWolves tacked on a pair in the bottom of the fourth. Martinez led off and reached on an error. With one out, Deik Scram crushed a two-run home run, his fourth, for a 4-1 Erie lead.
The SeaWolves took a commanding lead in the bottom of the fifth. Bishop and Pounds connected on back-to-back one out singles. Martinez followed with a base hit, scoring Bishop for a 5-1 lead. With Audy Ciriaco hitting, an Irwin wild pitch moved the runners into scoring position. Ciriaco laced single that brought home Pounds for a 6-1 edge. Scram singled home both Martinez and Ciriaco for an 8-1 Erie lead. Scram later scored on a Jamie Johnson base hit making it 9-1.
