New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - With the 2011 edition of the Rock Cats continuing to play well - they are on their way home after taking three-out-of-four in Portland, ME, this weekend - Mgr. Jeff Smith's team will return to New Britain Stadium tomorrow night (7/18) to begin their 10th Homestand of the 2011 Season. The Monday night through Wednesday afternoon action is a quick 3-game series with Richmond, our former Nutmeg State neighbor who relocated to Virginia a couple of years ago. The Flying Squirrels - as they're now called - have proven to be a tough Western Division foe. Longtime EL partners of the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants, this club is loaded with prospects and if the Rock Cats are going to extend their winning ways, they'll need to be at the top of their game against these guys. And, as all the baseball action will be taking place at New Britain Stadium, there will be lots of family-centered activities and Giveaways at the ballpark throughout this 10th Homestand of the year.

Here are details associated with this July 18th thru July 20th stretch at the Stadium: MONDAY NIGHT, JULY 18, 7:05 PM: The quick Monday night -Wednesday afternoon three-game set with Richmond begins on Monday night at 7:05 PM. This group from Dixie is a very talented with former good-guy Norwich skipper - Dave Machemer - back at the controls. These aspiring Giants are loaded with talent and will be looking to continue a strong recent run of their own that has vaulted them into 2nd Place in the West. As a bonus for fans, Monday night is also the weekly occasion for fans to enjoy the All-You-Can Eat Bar-B-Q as, for an extra $12, participants get an unlimited number of Hot Dogs, Hamburgs, Soft Drinks, Chips and Salad in one of the Stadium's premium Picnic Areas. This is a Pre-Game special that typically runs about 90 minutes; do come early and hungry. This feast is sponsored by people who know a little something about great ball park fare - KAYEM!

Monday night is also an event when we'll thoroughly scrub a section of the Stadium so that our fans with Food Allergies may join us in a non-threatening, healthy and fun atmosphere. Please join us for Allergy Free Night on Monday night!

TUESDAY NIGHT, JULY 19th, 7:05 PM: The Flying Squirrels from Virginia are back with us for the middle game of this 3-game set at 7:05 PM. This franchise has produced a number of outstanding players over the years, with a healthy portion of the current San Francisco rotation - studs Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner - just two recent examples. It is very likely that more of that ilk are in the San Fran pipeline and, with luck, on the current Richmond roster. These two teams always play one another tough - no matter the location. What's not tough is what it will cost to feed the kids on Tuesday night as its KIDS Eat Free Night at the Stadium! All kids 12 and under will receive a coupon on their way through the gates for a Free Hot Dog, Drink, and a Bag of Little Bites Muffins; this every-Tuesday-night-special is made possible by our friends at Bimbo Bread. And don't forget that Tuesday is also KRAFT Singles Night - bring a KRAFT Singles wrapper to the Box Office and, with a paying companion, receive a free ticket to the game. Free Food, Free Ticket, good deal!

Tuesday night is also Inhalant Abuse Awareness Night at the Stadium as members from the Washington, DC-based Alliance for Consumer Education visit New Britain to share their insights about the clear dangers of kids inhaling the fumes of a variety of common American household products. This largely invisible hazard has caused numerous deaths and ACE is with us to highlight the problem. We appreciate the information! And fans will also appreciate the Rock Cats' 2011 Team Poster that will be given to the first 1,200 kids through the gates on Tuesday night, courtesy of the aforementioned Alliance for Consumer Education.

WEDNESDAY NOON, JULY 20th, 12:05 PM: Dave Machemer's Richmond club is back with us at High Noon on Wednesday afternoon for the third and final game of this mid-week set. These two teams always play all-out against each other - and with a large number of vocal Giants fans in attendance, the atmosphere in the Stadium can be charged. The 12:05 PM first pitch gives Business Persons a chance to extend their lunch hours to catch a little baseball - and provides retirees and traditionalists the delightful opportunity to both see a ballgame in daylight - and also get home in time for the afternoon nap. For both groups - they may take advantage of our Business Person's Special as fans will get a Box Seat and your choice of three lunches - a D'Angelo's Turkey Grinder, Papa Gino's Jr. Pizza, or Buffalo Chicken Wrap - for just $12! Moreover, it's also a Family 4-Pack event whereby fans can get 4 Reserved Seats, 4 Hot Dogs, 4 Popcorns and 4 Waters for just $30! Great deals, great game, great day! We'll also be joined on Wednesday by some local Parks & Rec campers - many will be viewing the first professional baseball game of their lives. We have our friends at VANTIS Life and DATTCO to thank for this terrific day!

Good seats remain available for all three games on this 10th Homestand of the 2011 Season. Fans seeking to purchase tickets may do so by visiting the New Britain Stadium Box Office (10 AM and 6 PM) or by calling the Rock Cats Ticket Office at (860) 224-8383 during regular business hours. For those interested in the convenience of on-line purchasing, please visit the Rock Cats' website (www.rockcats.com) and follow the easy instructions. Please do join us if you can!
